Petko Dimitrov Ganchev, Professor, Doctor of Philosophy and Political Sciences. Born on 18 October 1941 in Staroseltsy, Pleven Province, Bulgaria. In 1966 he graduated from Sofia University ‘St.Kliement Ohridski’ where he majored in Philosophy and History. In 1980 he was awarded the title of Doctor of Philosophy and in 2006 - Doctor of Political Sciences. Since 1982 Professor Petko Ganchev has been Professor at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences /BAS/. His sheres of interests are Philosophy, Philosophy of History, Futurology, Social Ecology, Geopolitics, Theory of International Relations, Global Studies.

Professor Petko Ganchev has delivered lectures in different Universities of Bulgaria, Germany, Russia and Belarus.
Since June 2001 he has been a deputy in the 39th National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, a member of the Bulgaria’s Parliamentary Commission on Education and Science, Commission on Environment. Since April 25, 2005 till May 31, 2009 he held the position of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Belarus. He is Honourary Professor of Grodno State University named after Yanka Kupala and the Belarussian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank, Honourary member of the Belarussian Writers’ Union, Chairperson of the Geopolitical Centre ‘Eurasia – Sofia’ and Vice Chairperson of the Academic Council of the International Science Fund, Sofia.
